Dermot distraught over Louis wind-up

Disgraced X Factor host Dermot O’Leary has issued a grovelling apology to Louis Walsh - after the diminutive Irishman raged at suggestions he had the hots for a troupe of scantily-clad male dancers.

The two had a heated exchange after last Saturday’s episode in which Dermot quipped: “Wow! I never thought I’d hear Louis Walsh say that hunky angels were average," in response to Louis calling hopeful Rachel Hylton’s routine “pretty average.”

Louis struggled to hide his anger on the live show - watched by 12.1 million viewers – and reportedly cornered Dermot afterwards to tell him to cut it out. The programme’s producers are also thought to stepped into the argument and insisted Dermot stop calling Louis “camp”.

"Dermot was really shocked by how badly Louis reacted,” said an X Factor insider. “He never meant to be insulting. He was being matey and jokey. Simon Cowell is always saying things of a similar nature to Louis but he dismisses it as horseplay between two mates.

“Dermot has now apologised and promised he won’t do it any more – and Louis has accepted it. They both just want to move on now.”

Let’s hope Dermot can learn from this incident and accept the Boyzone and Westlife manager for the testosterone-fuelled, red-blooded male he undoubtedly is.
